Yoga here I come

Four miles on the treadmill at a 10:45 pace.  I was way awesome and super amazing.  No on could possible match this feat in all of history.  Ok, so maybe not, at least I got off my butt and did something today to make myself less of a looser.

Jenali2

What I was surprised about was  how much better it felt on the treadmill.  No incline, better shock absorption, climate control, and no chance of rain.  If I could just get a treadmill in the house I could then enjoy the convenience of my cable; I’d be set!  Although I do enjoy the scenery of the outdoors and the fact that I have less excuse to run a shorter distance.  Oh, well, either way after May 5th I’m going to have to take a serious break from running to heal.  It’s going to be difficult, maybe I’ll take up Yoga…

Hello anus!

Well hello again! We’ve got to stop meeting this way.

I have no words…

Just so you know So You Think You Can Dance starts May 24th.  Set the DVR and don’t bother calling, I’m busy!!!

I think Jane Fonda and I could sweat up a storm, or I could just laugh really hard and burn some calories that way.

Only 4 more work days until vacation.  Can you feel it?

I’d be the first one gone in a horror movie

Today was supposed to be a 6 mile run, but because I’m behind on my schedule I did 5.  Lets just be honest about it, I couldn’t do 6 miles today if Freddy Kruger were chasing me down at midnight.  I couldn’t get over an 11 minute mile to save my life.  I’d be more depressed about my lack of ability if it wasn’t for the fact that a 5 mile run hasn't happened in a long time, so it made me feel slightly more accomplished than, oh say, Snooki or Lindsay Lohan.  I had to keep bouncing back and forth in my music to find songs to keep me going after the first 2 miles.  But at least I can say that it’s done.  So BOO YA!!!

snooki

lindsay

Totally winning!!!

When I was young and dreamed of having kids I didn’t really thing through the thought of them getting older.  That dream always involved a baby but never the older child.  Well, I had a reality check yesterday.  My oldest daughter turned 6!!!  I think I actually saw her get older yesterday right before my eyes.  And she didn’t even ask permission.  In fact I’ve been telling her for years to stop growing, but does she listen?  It’s quite rude of her to disobey her mother.

What a ham.  Always posing!!!

We had a bowling party at a local place with the other little girls from her Kindergarten class as well as some cousins who are around her age.  It was pretty fun…for her.  I spent most of the time pondering how quickly this all seemed to happen.  Over all I thought it went well and Little girl #1 said it was “Awesome”.  (I know, I throw a great party!!!)  After the may lay was over I have to settle the bill with the server who did an amazing job keeping the drinks filled and the pizza around.  Somehow I got it in my head that the bowling lanes were $10 per lane per hour, which would have totaled $40. So when the receipt had double that on it I was a little shocked to say the least.  I ended up getting a manage and arguing for the price I was quoted on the phone until they re-rang my ticket.  Then I got home and double checked the notes I had made while talking with the event coordinator just to confirm that I was right.  Much to my horror I WAS WRONG.  I’ll even say it again cause it doesn’t happen very often, I WAS WRONG.

Jess6

It’s hard for me to believe too.

I felt awful, so very, very, awful.  I called my husband who was still out and about and made him go back to tell the server that I was a giant ninny head and was wrong and pay for the rest of the ticket.  Of course, he wasn’t keen on being the one to go but I made sure that he let them know I was the one who screwed this up.  I guess I’ll never be able to show my face there again.  I’ll have to change my hairstyle and speak in a British accent so they won't know who I am if I ever go back.

Don’t you hate it when your wrong????

Surprise…

There was a time that I had considered myself to be an observant person.  But apparently my grey and aging brain has lost a step.  Crap!!!  There were so many signs earlier in the week, stupid questions from friends, shady dealings with the husband, and people being weird.  I should have seen it coming.  I should have known…

IMG_4839

I didn’t exactly have the reaction that my husband wanted.

Big D was pretty bummed that my first reactions was a poor one.  Let’s just be honest, I was a little pissed off.  He took me to dinner and fed me a line about wanting to stop by a party for a friend and that we would just make an appearance.  Well much to my horror I walked into a room filled with a bunch of my so called “friends”.  A real friend might have tipped me off so that I could have washed my hair!!!

IMG_4848

Kathy, I know my hair was bad, but you could at least open your eyes and pretend I look good.

IMG_4853

Same goes to you Cheryl!!!

IMG_4856

At least there was cake.

And this isn’t just any cake, its “Joanne” cake.  Joanne is my best friends mom, who makes cake of many sorts.  In fact she made my wedding cake.  I would do devious things just to get a piece of this cake.  So at least this party had a redeeming factor.  My family also showed up to rub my age in my face.

IMG_4851

I don’t understand why my brother couldn’t drive from Florida for this party???? And hey there grizzly Adams.

IMG_4858

Smile now.  You know what payback is like?

I have to say that over all I had a good time.  Yes it was a rocky start but I woun’t kill anybody just yet over it.

IMG_4862

Don’t do it, you can still eat cake.

I’m just going to have to hone my observation skills and prepare for a counter attack.  You will never know when it will happen oh, husband of mine, but it will happen, and it will be swift and you will be surprised!!!

IMG_4859

IMG_4868

Rub it in my face, will ya?

Look out 31, here I come.

Get on your own side!!!

Yesterday involved a trip to the foot doctor who remolded some orthotics that I couldn’t get to fit right.  So I was interested to see how my feet would feel on todays 3 mile run.  Oddly enough, I was fine.  I just worry to much.  In fact I ran 3.5 miles today because I was feeling pretty good.  Of course it was a snails pace, but who cares, I did it and didn’t stop during the whole run.  I just want to get myself back to the place I was last summer with running.  Mainly back in shape and not dreading the start of the run.

photo(1)

This is my running schedule that I will loosely follow up until the half marathon in Indy on May 5th.  Since my work days are never the same these days get moved around but as long as I can get 4 days of running in I know I will be fine. (Please note: this is not a training plan for speed.) Us losers just want to finish and not die.

I would also like to thank whom ever parked next to me today at the gym.  I was lucky to even get in my car, thank goodness I didn’t have any kids with me to try to load in cause there would have been some scratching going on whilst trying to fit my butt and a kid in between there.

 photo(2)

It’s a good thing I was between the lines.

A special thanks to my awesome pal Cindy who hooked me up with an iTunes gift card for my birthday.  I was able to purchase both of Adele’s albums

as well as Florence + the Machine

and the Foo Fighters greatest hits.

And if you don’t like Foo you can just go cry to your mamma cause I don’t care.  Dave Grohl and I are BFF’s.  Sorry bout ya!!!

A personal photographer would be nice

Ok, so maybe my prediction of the end of the world on Monday was a little askew, but I still feel old.  I did manage to drag the old decrepit bones out of bed today and to the gym for some TM time.  By the way, I can’t wait for some nicer weather.  That treadmill is going to slowly suck my soul from me.  I have to “formulate a plan, or end up in jail, or shot.” (Thank you Eminem)  But seriously, now that I am actually following a training plan and doing my best to stick with it, I’m going to need to switch it up with some runs in different locals to keep my ADD self interested.

White trash crush, right there.

I did manage the 3 miles that the plan called for today and spent the rest of my hour of cardio on the elliptical.  Today I listened to a new station.  How have I never thought of cueing the Glee radio on Pandora.  Two words: Kill Er.  I need to change my music that I listen to while running as much as I need to change the trail.  I get to board and loose interest. (Is it possible to have ADD and OCD at the same time?)

Doesn’t everybody know their own Sue Sylvester?

I guess the gym was slightly different today seeing as how it was like running in bar!  A mile into my run Ms. Swisher Sweet hopped on next to me.  At least smoke your cigarette and then change your clothes or something.  The smell was so strong I seriously considered changing treadmills.  But then I was worried about making a scene and possibly hurting someone's feeling.  But then again why should I care because she didn’t care about my nostrils.  I really need to be nicer…

The hubs got me some flowers for valentines day.  Pretty, no?

It was Sarah’s birthday too.  She got a pretty nifty sock monkey hat.

I also did go out for my birthday on Monday and met up with some friends at Charlie's, which is a pub where I can get a free hamburger on my birthday.  And since I’m a tightwad we went where the free stuff is.  I had an excellent time and hope to do it again a decade from now before I enter my assisted living facility.

Moonshine

Just as I was walking into the gym today my friend Tena gave me a ring and asked pleaded physically forced me to meet her and a few other friends for a lunch outing.  And you know how much I hate to eat, so I sucked it up and agreed to go.  I ran 2miles on the treadmill and spent another 30 minutes on the elliptical.  Time well spent, I’d say.  I did manage to get a shower in before meeting the girls at an undisclosed location.  We then spent the next 40 minutes driving to an out of the way place that Tena had heard about on the the travel channel.  Moonshine, IL.  You heard of it?  Yeah, me neither…

IMG_1243

Welcome to Moonshine, Population “2”.  It seemed safe enough, there weren’t any dueling banjos playing or anything.  It’s not often that you can capture a whole town in a photo from your phone.  And this is the whole town.

IMG_1245

I’m pretty sure that Cheryl is threatening Kathy that if this sucks she is gonna get it.

I will say that this place really surprised me.  Now there weren’t any tables, or menus, or silverware, but it was SOOOOOO good. The restaurant is called “Moonshine” oddly enough and they specialize in the “Moonburger”.  I can not express to you how delicious this burger was.  I could have eaten two if it was considered socially acceptable.

IMG_1248

This is the WHOLE store.  Please note, no tables.

IMG_1249

Cindy and Tena enjoying their burger, and the décor. Notice the boxes lining the walls. I think Cindy might be seizing.

IMG_1252

It was to delicious to remember to take a pic before eating.  I topped mine with cheese, onion, pickles, horseradish, and spicy mustard.  Don’t judge.

IMG_1251

Don’t stop eating girls, it’s just a picture.

And if you want to use the bathroom I hope that you a comfortable with a porta potty cause that’s all they got.

399792_2574057275182_1366825425_31947852_1114808497_n[1]

And I’m ok with that.

Over all a great trip, unexpected but wonderful.  I highly encourage anyone to take the out of the way trip.

On a side note my friend Amanda, who coincidently has a cute little blog about decorating and organizing and cooking and whatever else she wants to cause that’s how she rolls, sent me a message telling me that my blog is a blocked site at her work because of content.  Who me?  It must be all the references to crap.  I’m so proud to be a rebel causing discord at the places of work of those 5 people who read this drivel.

Have you been a rebel lately?

Sweaty and Questionable

Isn’t if funny how you run into all sorts of people you know when you are sweaty and gross and possibly smell questionable?  Well that has happened to me today.  I had a 4 hour class at work which got over slightly early.  At which time I decided to use my time wisely and hit the gym.  Now the middle of the day is not my usual time for working out and as it turns out there are a lot of people that I know that choose the middle of the day to use the gym.  As you know I like to go when the '”Silver Sneakers” are there, but over the lunch hour is a much younger crowd.  Crapsticks!!

Funny Confession Ecard: I'd have a nicer butt if I wasn't so embarrassed by the exercise for nicer butts.

Anyhow, I ran 3 miles on the treadmill much to my surprise. (I had only told myself, “You only have to do one today.”)  and then finished out my hour of cardio on the elliptical.  All the while people I know, who are more fit than I by the way, felt the need to flaunt their physical prowess and make me feel like an overstuffed sausage in my running tights.  That's right, Sarah, I’m talking to you, you skinny little woman.  I will snap you in two.  By the way Sarah and I share a birthday that just around the corner.  Feel free to get us presents or shower us with cash.

Smile now Sarah, I’ll get you when your not looking.

This past weekend my mom and I went Antiqueing/Goodwilling.  It was fun had by all and I even found a few things for myself.Horse

This horse resembles a horse in my mom’s attic that me call ‘Ol Blue.  They wouldn’t let me ride him.

Deb3

I let my mom pick her own outfit out at Goodwill.  We are just gonna have to buy her clothes for her from now on.

We did have the find of the year.  A pair of brown leather, barley worn, Ralph Lauren Kitten heels.  And not the Chaps brand of Ralph Lauren, the actually, “I’m too expensive to actually spend money on” Ralph Lauren shoes.  They are a size 9 so these big old feet aren’t getting into them but I bought them anyway and am going to make my sister wears them since she has smaller feet than I.  You just can’t pass up that kind of deal for $3.50.

shoes

I also thought that I found a library table that I could use as a desk but the dolls that were guarding it wouldn’t let me have it so I backed off.

desk

Though I have not found the desk I have been looking for.  I have now resorted to Craigslist and hope that the desk that I am going to see tonight is not a trap where I will end up stuffed into someone's basement and forgotten about.  So if you don’t hear from me in a few days you know I’m in someone's basement on the East side of Terre Haute.

That Run Could Have Been Embarrassing

Started breaking in the new shoes today with 5 solid miles.  They felt really good.  Even though after 2 miles I had to hot step it to the locker room to avoid an embarrassing situation.  Luckily my treadmill had not been swiped by gang members or blue hairs and I got right back in it.  Pandora was awesome yet again today and provided me with some Jay-Z mix for the first half of the run and some Pink mix for the last half.  I just wish I could build a station of 10-20 artists of my choosing and not always have the computer randomly selecting music, though sometimes it pleasantly surprises me.

28305_1345044427127_1261758468_30803450_598727_n[1]

Surprise!!! I’ll bite your face off.

Do you ever get really upset at inanimate objects when they don’t behave?  Like that sock that you just can’t get to shake off your foot or the piece of plastic you are throwing away but can’t get the static to release it from your finger?  Then you just end up shaking that appendage wildly in the air and cursing.   Yeah, I thought so.  Me too.  I find myself yelling at the shoes to move out of my way or the door handle to let go of my coat sleeve.  This could be a problem in the future when my kids wanna find a reason to put me in a home.  Until then I will continue to get frustrated with soulless objects and throw them across the room.

Funny Seasonal Ecard: Your Christmas present will be all the more meaningful to me if you had to pepper spray someone in order to get it.

This happened to me the other night, or should I say morning with my socks when I rolled into the house at around 4 am (nothing works when your tired).  Why home so late, you ask?  Well I was sucked into the black hole of mindlessness on Thanksgiving night that involved long lines and fighting over stupid crappy toys.  Ok, so I didn’t actually fight anyone for a toy but my white trash would have come out if I needed it to.  My friend Amber and I ventured out at 9pm to see how bad it could really be (and she acted as my personal body guard).

IMG_1005

you really love me even when I make you stay out all night

Boy did we underestimate the power of the deal.  The lines at Toys-R-Us and Best Buy stretched on for what seemed like miles and lets not even mention Wal-Mart. (Lets take the kids and a tent and camp out in the liquor isle to get that X-box we don’t need and can’t afford, sure sounds like a good plan)  That place game me an anxiety attack, and now that I know they are carrying pepper spray, I’m glad we got out before the may lay started.

IMG_1004

There were two women attacked in Terre Haute in the Toys R Us parking lot that were jumped and all of their new toys and left over cash were taken.  I’m not a serious shopper but we did find a few deals that worked out. We had a very late dinner at Denny’s before attempting any stores which worked in our favor. No lines to wait in and all the fight, stabbing and choke holds to get the hottest toys was over by 11 when things open at 9.  We just couldn’t seem to stop looking at all the deals and before we knew it it was 3:30 and I was spent.

IMG_1006

Everything seems like a good idea at 2:30am, especially with no sleep

Over all I’d say it was a success.  Not sure if I will attempt that again.  And if I do, I will definitely have a plan in place to avoid having to bring my prison made shiv with me.  It’s either that or take Amber with me again.

Do you venture out into the Black Friday Mess?

Organization Junkie

Last night as I lay in bed I made a decision that I would run outside today no matter how cold it was.  Of course that was before this morning when the monsoon hit.  My resolutions are always defeated before they can start (I’m made of sugar, I can’t get wet).  But I did not leg this get me down, I just headed to the gym.  Four and a half miles later I felt great, a little chaffed in the nether regions but otherwise great.  I haven’t done over 4 miles since September and my legs could have lasted for longer but that spot on my Achilles where my shoe has been rubbing really started to burn (mental note: buy new shoes).  Maybe it was the Jay-Z on Pandora or the two cups of coffee before getting going but it just felt right.

Me too!!!!

After my gym trip I had to go to Kroger for some food.  I don’t understand why those kids can’t just go to the grocery store themselves?  Or at least get a job and contribute some money? So inconsiderate of them to lounge all day and eat my strawberries (which by the way, between the both of them they put away an entire carton of strawberries in one sitting this evening).

While at Kroger, I once again found myself wandering the office supply aisle.  I have a small addiction to office supplies, I believe they make me look more organized and they give me a secret high.  I’m a sick puppy.  Some day when I grow up I want to professionally organize peoples homes.  Amber this means you!  If I could make money doing that I’d totally be in.

Muaahaaahaaaa!!!!

So what's your secret addition?
